A new URI study has found extensive microplastics in Narragansett Bay. Researchers Victoria Fulfer and J.P. Walsh estimate that the top 2 inches of the floor of Narragansett Bay now contain more than 1,000 tons of microplastics, and that buildup has occurred in just the last 10 to 20 years.

Guests on this week’s episode:

  • Sara Porter, Public Information Officer with the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency
  • Ian Donnis, The Public’s Radio political reporter
  • Dr. Ashish Jha, former White House COVID advisor and current dean of Brown University’s School of Public Health
  • Victoria Fulfer, URI doctoral student and one of the researchers behind a new URI study on microplastics found in Narragansett Bay
  • Mohitosh Talukder Taposh, Rhode Island-based Bengali musician
